Journal of Liberal Arts,
Technology & Science

Aims and Scope

The Journal of Liberal Arts, Technology, and Science (JLATS) is a multidisciplinary, double-blind peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research papers and discussions relating to liberal arts, technology, and science. The journal specifically welcomes submissions focusing on

1) making connections between research and its impact in the local context; and/or

2) integrating technology in the field of liberal arts and science.

Open Access Policy

At The Journal of Liberal Arts, Technology, and Science, we firmly believe that knowledge should be shared freely with the global community. To this end, all publications in this journal are free to publish and free to read (which is known as the Diamond Open Access model). All work published in this journal is licensed under the CC BY 4.0 license (here is a simple summary of what it means, and here are the full license terms).

Under this license, the authors are the copyright holders, and anyone else can freely access, reuse, distribute, and reproduce the work provided that proper attribution is given (i.e., the work must be cited). No permission is needed from the authors or the journal for reusing or distributing the publication. However, the party reusing or distributing the work must give proper credit, provide a link to the license, and specify if any changes were made to the work.

Manuscript Review Process

All articles will go through an anonymized double-blind peer review process. Each submission will first be screened by the editor to assess its alignment with the journal’s aims and scope. If the submission is deemed suitable, it will be sent to two independent reviewers. The identity of the author and reviewers will be hidden from both parties. The editor will make the final decision on the manuscript taking into account reviewers’ feedback.

Publication Frequency and Format

The journal is published on a rolling basis. That means that authors will not have to wait for a certain issue’s publication deadline; their work will be published online as soon as final proofreading and typesetting are completed. This journal is published exclusively online.

For readers’ convenience, each online publication will be accompanied by a PDF version. All PDF versions are assembled into a yearly bundle for a given year. For example, an article published in 2023 will be immediately available online as a web and a PDF version, and at the end of 2023 its PDF version will also be included in the 2023 PDF bundle. Articles published in response to special calls for papers will be put together in separate PDF bundles.

Indexing and Archiving

The journal is currently indexed in J-STAGE and is discoverable on Google Scholar. As a young journal, we are actively working toward getting indexed at such databases as SCOPUS within the next two years. We also encourage authors to self-archive their work published in this journal.
